Mirait delivers 62,000 pits for Telstra CNI Remediation Program
In September 2015, MIRAIT Technologies Australia was awarded the Proactive Pit Remediation contract by Telstra, the program initially involved the remediation of approximately 45,000 pits. The program covers an area from southern Tasmania to Dauan Island which is located approximately 10kms off the coast of Papua New Guinea.
Since program commencement in September 2015 until 31st December 2019, Mirait has replaced 62,000 ACM (Asbestos Containing Material) pits, across Australia.
This results in the potential disturbance of asbestos containing materials (ACM), and therefore asbestos exposure risks, where robust health and safety controls as well as asbestos work practices are quintessential. In 2017 Mirait was able to demonstrate how effectively we were in removing, transporting and disposing of ACM within Telstra’s network via an internal audit conducted on Telstra’s Contractor and ACM compliance by Price Waterhouse Cooper. This audit resulted in Mirait being recognised as the best performing company in ACM management outperforming several other major contractors significantly. Mirait continues to improve the way ACM is managed within the network including several initiatives such as the ACM awareness campaign in 2019 resulting in 500 ACM alert stickers being posted in vehicles and depots across several states.
